Cool Rise Against band Offical thread

For all of you who love punk rock, you might enjoy the band Rise Against. Rise Against is a punk rock band formed by Tim McIlrath. The current band members are Tim McIlrath, Joe Principe, Brandon Barnes, and Zach Blair. Apparently, Rise Against have really great songs and I enjoy listening to them. Here are a few facts about the band:
  • All the members are vegetarian and supporters of PETA.
  • They have highly liberal views (hinted in the FAQ on their main site). Of course, most punks have liberal views.
  • Most of the songs don't swear as crazy (although I did clearly heard the f-word while listening to "State of the Union" song). However, their songs tend to get political (i.e. "Ready to Fall" focusing on the destruction of the environment, "Prayer For The Refugee" criticises American consumerism ,and "Give It All" have references of socialism.

My favorite songs in my opinion are "Prayer For The Refugee," "Give It All," "Like the Angel," and "The Good Left Undone."

Although this might be off-topic but I wish their songs are played in the Pokemon anime. THEN I would watch that show again (used to when I was younger, but Pokemon is currently f-ed up due to censorship by the Republicans). The reasons, the songs don't swear and the songs are appropriate for kids (8 year olds won't to understand what the lyrics mean). Although most of you don't care about Pokemon since I'm guessing most of you are over 14.

Anyways, I'm making this thread the official thread on discussing about the Rise Against band.

Main site is below:

I love their messages they put across in those amazing videos. I like that they try and make a difference. Their videos remind me of the video for Linkin Park - What I've Done. I don't think Linkin Park got much of a message across though with the video, it was just a stream of consciousness IMO.

There are a lot of videos done in that style and it looks great, but Rise Against are a bit more direct, which I like.

Their music videos also give direct messages as well, I watched them and they are pretty good.

And everyone would agree their songs fit perfectly in Pokemon. I might plan to create a few Guild Wars videos playing their songs as well (especially me solo farming bosses with shadow form, which i don't know what program I should use).

I watched that video before, it's pretty cool.

But I'm planning to make a GW clip of me shadow farming and playing their music as well, but I don't know what program can do that.

Other than that, I'm going to see if I can more of their songs next year or so, I heard they are going to release another album. I'm going to see what these guys think when Rise Against music is played in Pokemon (but I would have to disguise myself, because I have made lots of ridiculous uncyclopedia articles about Pokemon, heck I think they hate that site). Speaking of which:

Uncyclopedia article on Rise Against

I manage to make fun of my own favorite band. Don't worry, there is no swear words in the article.

P.S. If anyone is willing to tell me of a program that would allow me record myself farming in GW, please do so and a program that you can edit videos and such.

I can state that Rise Against is quite liberal. I mean, I never heard of any punk rock band that is conservative.

So like, just because you post a band you like, does that mean I can go spam the forums with every music group I like?

To each their own with political views, music, and Pokemon , but PETA isn't what many people believe it to be.

I went to a Pokemon fansite and see what they think if Rise Against music plays in Pokemon. I got highly negative results. Apparently, I hope you guys would agree on my idea of Rise Against.

I'm not much of an anime fan, since the FCC censors anime.

Back on topic: What you guys think about Rise Against being vegetarian and members or PETA? Nice eh? I'm guessing they support social liberal ideas as well.

You can create threads about your favorite bands in the off-topic forum, but don't spam useless messages please. I'm hoping GW Guru would create subforums on different categories in the off-topic section.

to tell you the truth, I do agree and disagree with PETA a little bit I oppose dogfights or use of animals in the military put animals in harm (unless if it relates to finding a cure on on ads, it's something else) and I'm not against the use of animals for research. I do however, oppose their claims on milk, wool, furs, and leather (especially the milk part, milk gives a lot of health benefits). Often I see PETA taking things to extreme.

So far, I haven't heard PETA's comments on Pokemon and Happy Tree Friends (a violent cartoon that looks like a children's show but it isn't, in fact, it's very violent in a hilarious way, much like itchy and scratchy show in the simpsons), but I'm sure they might oppose the show for certain reasons.

As for Rise Against, it is very interesting that my favorite punk rock band supports PETA. I thought in my head, "Are they animal-rights wackos or liberals?" I read further in their FAQ in their main website and they are liberal.

Speaking of which, I'm going to contact Rise Against to see if my idea of having them and their songs in Pokemon is a good idea.

Here are the results on a poll on my idea involving with Rise Against and Pokemon, I got a few negative results here:
http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=23445

I'm going to email the band leader, Tim about the idea and wait for a response (probably 2-6 years or so). If I have a chance and they have a concert in my city, I'm going to get an autograph from them.

Here are some my favorite videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOtNqDyyX2c

Prayer of the Refugee focuses on the dark side on consumerism.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dScutbJpHoA
This video was for PETA, supposedly expose animal cruelty and global warming effects.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U1rujGtmlg
This one is a sweet video, watch the end, it's even funnier.

You should start one. I think I might start one about a few bands I like. k?

1. As for me, they sound more like pop than "punk". I'm not a big time punk rocker either, but I would not call that "punk".

2. The do have cussing in their lyrics. A few songs they drop the "f bomb". Even though you said they cuss then turn around and say they do not. Either way kids pick up more than people think.
